A Reflection on Motherhood
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” (Proverbs 31:25, NIV).
When I recall the time I shared with my mother, I remember her courage, strength, nurturing spirit, intellect, and compassion. She believed in me 100% and if it were mathematically possible, more than one hundred percent. That’s motherhood. That’s womanhood.
Who does not feel the vibrations and vigor of a woman?
- Like the Queen of Sheba, she is wise.
- Like Deborah, she is courageous and saves the nation of Israel.
- Like Esther, she places her life on the line for her people.
- Like Mary McLeod Bethune, she inspects a field, buys it, and Bethune Cookman University is planted.
- Like Helen Keller, she takes the hand of life she is dealt and becomes a world renown activist and advocate for blind people worldwide.
- Like Mother Teresa, she extends a helping hand to the poor.
- Like Michelle Obama, her husband is well known and becomes the leader of the free world.
- Like Mary, her faith is the progenitor of Jesus Christ.
Almighty Sovereign God, thank you for the gift of motherhood. Indeed, they are closest to who God is. They bring life into the world, provide the first food for the newborn, give unconditional love, and minister and care to those in need. AMEN
“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue” (Proverbs 31:26, NIV).
